possible shoal of 4 Rhom???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a small rhom, around 3 inches. Its housed in its own tank next to a tank containing 3 x 7 inch reds. He can see the reds through the glass and is constantly trying to break through. When I put a piece of card between the tanks, I hardly see him, he just hides behind the plants. I had a plec in the tank before he went in, which I thought would be ok, no way, he chewed it to bits. It seems to me that if he was in with the reds he would cause mayhem. If he's not afraid of fish more than twice his size, what is he afraid of, other than me? lol As someone said to me once, the only thing you can keep with rhoms is snails.

and gravel... haha

I have a brother that has a 5"to6" Rhom with 4 RBP's and
it has worked for 4 months now . How much longer I do not know .
I had 2 Rhoms in the same tank and one killed the other within 2 weeks .
So Roll the dice !

I had a 3" rhomb chomp into 2 natteri that where 5". He chased a 7" oscar too. Rhombs are pure predators as are all serrasalmus so they are always looking for an oppurtunity. The only way I could see it working is in a tank of at least 700 gal. otherwise "there will be blood". Remember these fish get about 14" & move constantly. The fact that they are living in the " to small & I have to watch my back from the 3rd member if I attack the 2nd" tank now doesn't mean they will be cool in a "more room to counter attack while guy # 3 is across the way" larger tank

well they are still together and seem to be mixing with the same temprement as the red bellies.
Ron had to go back to make way for my GDR, he is now in the tank next to the red's (8 of them at about 5") and hes constantly trying to find a way in to get at them

i will keep this updated
