Possibly Good Deal On Light Fixture, is it worth it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Metal halides are more efficient if you ask me. People that are running their tanks on t5 have to use banks of lights to do the same thing metal halide does.

Theres a guy on here that can walk you through the math, but overall MH is more efficient.

MH i think would be great for me to but, if i get it at the right price but small narrow enough to fit on my bowfront.

If I were you I would just get two of the 150w MH pendants with moonlights and t5 atinics for $99 shipped. This would be cheap, and would work fine in your bow I would think.

Both of the fixtures you have outlined come with external ballasts.

Thats a really good deal. Who is that through? I don't know about you guys but I am really becoming more interested in the LED lights now that the prices have dropped. I was also super impressed with the way they looked on the 300 gal reef system in blacktip17's brothers LFS.

Here is what we all been waiting for:

This is the fixture:

Would this light be good for a seabae anemone and any specie of coral?

Do I need to change any of the bulbs for better ones?

Also what are the benefits of led...thier is 4 on this fixture?

Btw turbo I want to check out blacktips17s brother tank...u know where it is? I want to see leds in action lol

Check out reefkoi.com or do an online search for reeffiltration. Both are doing quality LED fixtures, and for prices WAY below what mainstream fixtures are going for.

Reeffiltrations are ridiculously overpowered when you see the PAR ratings, and come with a 3 year warranty, with a loner program if anything does happen.

In addition to that they have separate powercords for the blue, and the white lights, and they also are wired so that if one LED goes out the rest stay on. Pretty cool stuff, worth looking into especially at the prices they are offering.

No idea why you would spend $400 on that fixture when you could get an aquatraders one with mh for way less.

Lol i want the MH too, but my parents odnt like the idea of it suspending from the ceiling...

Is this light fixture ok at least? Yeah and the guy that works thier says he can give it to for less, they generally sell for less then $400 at the store im thinking of getting from, im just using marine depot to show the fixture. The guy thier he knows me well says he can get it for me for a cheaper price...

Surprise how marinedepot is selling it for like $530...

Well remember that when you show us a MD link it only shows us the page, not the specific unit you want.

I would go MH either way. You need a lot more t5, and you spend way more money on bulbs.

Ask him if he can get you a fixture with MH in it for a deal.
