Gold dust found on flashlight? The only velvet treatment I find is coppersafe but you'd have to treat for that in a spare tank, not your main tank. A tub or fiberglass pond will do it temporarily.
Didn't see your post in time. I was talked into buying Primafix. Anyone know if it should work, or has worked for them?Lupin;3881229; said:Gold dust found on flashlight? Thanks for the info! I did give the Pimafix a try, and right after it was added to the tank the JD began swimming around, instead of hiding in the corner breathing heavily as he had been doing for the past two days. Now the Oscar... he seems to be confusing me... he doesn't have velvet, the ich he had is no longer there after treatment... and the strange looking white bumps that were on him are slowly disappearing, which is great except he just lays around in the tank most of the time... just a lazy Oscar??zerojquan85;3882936; said:My next guess would be velvet.. If they look like Ich..
If ur JD is stratching on rocks immensely...
In which case.. U'll need metronidazole... Velvet is a much more serious type of ich..
Your best treatment is API General Cure.. available in petsmart which contains about 60% metro... The packet treats up to 100 gallon (10 packs) and treatment will last almost 1 months.. water change 1-2 days.. 82degrees and above..
OR u can try Bigal.com which has metro by seachem, 100% metro.. a bit expensive.. but it depends on what ur tank size is.. Or ifu can find the old school Pill type of General Cure... those are fine too..
Copper safe i find doesnt really do immediate treatment.. only an inhibitor for the water from velvet growth.. But Metro is what u need.

And, the Oscar is still in just one spot, and seems to be breathing harder. I just setup a bubble wand in the tank to see if it helps.
Nothing has happened to the other tank mates though, which surprises me. I have a BGK, two Eclipse Catfish, Bluegill, and a Bullhead in the tank. Nothing!zerojquan85;3883354; said:it doesnt hurt to try.. velvet is a nasty disease..
it usually comes with fish that happen to be in a bad tank when its in transport.. thats why MFK members stress so much about a quarantine tank.... u dont want to get a cool fish and found out that the tank it was in had a bad disease and it wipes out your whole tank..![]()

Now, the Oscar seems to be having trouble breathing, same with the others. The bottle shows to do a 25% water change after 7 days. Should I just do a WC anyway?? (To see if the breathing of the fish improves) Right now the tank is really cloudy, took some pics below.
