Understood. I was only trying to explain why the pet stores misidentify a substantial portion of their fish ... but really all you needed to know was that it is one of the TSN species, most likely a Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum. Not hybrid.
Okay thanks for the information I will not being going back to that pet store if they do not know their fish!

You are too kind but thanks.
as to not derail .... heres my tig at around 22", were old friends :) ...hes in an 8'x3'x30"
Another ace up your sleeve I didn't know about. Eye candy. Is he as T1KARRMAN says, a pretty statue of a catfish?

Opinions differ wildly on this at times hotly debated topic... but the consensus appears to be that hobbyists are at least as responsible for knowing what they are buying as the stores are for knowing what they are selling.

Eye candy for sure...love this sp....Lights out, he covers every inch of the tank even top water swimming... lights on, hes a bit more statue esc i suppose... had em for 5yrz now... hes also more active with less tank mates. ive always kept him alone or with very very few companions. i like my fins and streamers full over here... aside from my JDM style pool i keep exceptionally low stocks of 1-3 fish in my "private reserve" tanks 200-600 gal. lol...

Yes I agree they need to know the correct information instead of giving someone incorrect information about a fish

What's down its throat (looks like a peacock bass?) and what are the sizes of the predator and the prey?

same 32-34" retic as last time (about a month ago)... same size bass 14-16", mono this time.

Expensive sushi :o
Peacock bass I guess was it a kelberi ?

ur correct, mono bass. close enough lol... bass was "donated" yrs ago. i dont like seeing any fish consumed, but its only natural and destin to occur at some point in a "community" tank.

A local lfs close to me had channel cats marked as bullheads, I was thinking that someone is going to be awful surprised when its 18" and still growing
