I just want proven combinations ..nothing risky but some combination of unlikely fish that actually got along and thrived together... some thing unusal but it worked long term.. heres a couple of mine! My Red Devil and Wild Oscar with african cichlid.. they all get along great and have been together since i lost my pacus back in september ..and another unusal combination is my female green terror along with african cichlids ..they have been together for 2 years .. not trying to encourage any bad combinations because we all should strive to make a natural environment ...but sometimes the unlikely is nessasary and just wonder about success stories..so post your success..

i have 9 GTs in my africans pond but they all are small
heck some of them are smaller than the 3 mbunas and and a dozen kenyis
there is a little bit aggression but there are nearly 100 fish all in all in that pond so not too worry much
added the first 5 GTs 6 months back all b+ the range of .5-1"
then the next 4 GTs were added 3 months back they were 2"+

the other combination is
i have 2 male flower horns in the same tank
th first one is a ZZ and was bought at 2"+ and was 4" when i added the other one which is a rose queen at 1.5" and right now the zz is 5"+ and the rose queen is 2.5"+
virtually no aggression used to keep them in a divided aquarium for the first one month used a glass as a divider and now they are friends :D
will try and post pics of the FH tank
the pond is 6' deep and algae ridden so can't get photos

That pond sounds so awesome... love to see a pic of it even if you cannot see fish.. yes love to see those two males..thats great!

a bad combo that seems to work a lot of the time is neotropical cichlids with mbuna.
I've had archers in FW with SA cichlids and it worked fine for a while.

you have a mini eco system down there
it would be awesome if you could have a few of those monster cats (RTCs,TSNs and a jau)there along with a monster gator gar

I have kept fancy goldfish with tropicals for years. I had a tank of FW Angels and Fancy Goldfish for 8 years. I kept a pair of Pseudodora niger for 7 years with all kinds of tankmates. I kept a Hemibagrus cat with other fish, until I pulled an 8" Synodontis from his mouth (it lived, and its caudal fin grew back...).

Now I have a Niger Cat with Fancy Goldfish, also several plecos and an assortment of tetras.

Haha...hear this: 29 gallon with 2 huge goldfish (sold as 25 cent feeders when small), a gold opaline gourami, a senegal bichir, and some julii cories.
