I'd really like to make a couple of caves. Their too expensive to buy and too small. Post some of the ones you made. Include what you made it out of.

here's one i made years ago, really simple pvc pipe coated with GE1 silicone and rolled in aquarium gravel, looks good if you use the same color gravel or sand that is already in the aquarium. Also made some for my brother, by spraying great stuff foam on pvc, let it cure, and brush on a few layers of concrete mix. the great stuff and concrete mix looked way more natural but it took about 2 weeks of soaking in a bucket with daily water changes for the ph to level out from the concrete.

Nice...can't wait to see more ideas.

Im thinking just plain old clay pipe for my bichirs. Maybe some PVC rolled in gravel... But my tank is bare bottom in fear they might eat the gravel.. Clay pipe makes it so they wont get scratched / beat up which is cool. Also widely available.

This is more of a ledge but it's kind of like a cave on the bottom. Made from rocks and cement.

Looks good A_C. Do you guys know if there are specific rocks that should be use or specific rocks that cannot be used? There are a bunch of large rocks at homedepot that are really cheap. I did not buy them because I wasn't sure if they could cause problems being in a fish tank.

it's kinda hard to tell with rocks, snadstone doesn't do well, and almost any rock that has sparkles or metallic shiny spots normally stay away from.
