Nativelover - Thanks for the websites, that 2nd rig is pretty much how I make mine but I just don't use a 2nd swivel behind the weight.

Mbhw- I found a Penn surfmaster 150 and I like the it looks but im afraid of it being to heavy for my taste and of how easy parts would be to come by.

I looking for a baitcaster for my Daiwa Emcast surf rod (10' MH 15-30lb) I can spend up to about $150. Im probably going to get a Abu but I don't know which one to get.

the only reason i put another swivel is to connect the heavier leader to the main line. if you notice, the 5ft+ section is way heavier than the 20-30lb main line you should be running.

I haven't seen any crabbing gear, so I thought I'd post a couple photos.

I have a variety of crab pots, they all have their advantages/drawbacks.

The closed pots are best for leaving for a long soak, crabs go in, but keepers can't get out. Also, they are seal-proof, an important feature if you use fish as bait. The disadvantages are that they are slower to fill (crabs have to find a door), harder to bait/empty, and they are heavy.

The open-sided pot allows for a quick loading trap that positively traps in any crab in the ring when you pull it. They are "seal-resistant". They are lighter than the closed pots, but just as bulky.

The baskets (crab rings) are the best traps when crabbing is really good, they load fast and are the easiest to bait/empty. They are light and collapsible. The disadvantages are that they are open to seals, they can be TOO light if the current is strong, and crab can strip the bait clean and move on if you don't check regularly.

The crab table is a big help. I would recommend that if you plan on crabbing much you build one, it keeps 90% of the mess outside the boat!

Great stuff. The remote boat truly works ?

If you catch a large fish won't you lost boat and tackle?
