Yes, he is showing his age. He hasn't had nostrils now for about 3 years. Eyes have been a bit cloudy for the past year, not so active anymore
Yes, the Bichir that started it all for me. He even made an 800km relocation when I moved back to Calgary in 2005. 8 hour drive in a bucket under my kids feet.

Love this thread - Dels are so cool looking, and were always a "for sure" on my list when first researching polys. Mine is WC so I won't post her here, but it's fun to look at all of the different photos back to back.
It makes me want to start a thread for each poly species so we can see photos of all of one species at a time and the variations, and the differences on substrate, too. For example, Burbotman's dark substrate and how it brings the black/dark base color forward. They are trying to camoflauge themselves. I wonder if that's why red works for contrast - they can't match that.
