If you get a smaller one they will stay in that tank for a couple of years. They get big 24" plus as adults but they are very slow growers compared to other rays. They do not handle stress well so best to keep them alone or with other flowers. Even if established they can stress out from aggression of other rays. I have owed several of them and from my experience they love to bite and pretty much bite all day long but if another ray bites them and bullies them they will deteriorate. They can dish it but cannot take it.

Here's my girl now at 11" and when I first got her a year ago at 5". She goes from light to dark depending on mood!

Can't wait for the black to come in and stay! White sand doesn't help though.
