Post your close calls in losing your fish

i had a 38 gallon that broke while i was out for the day, i was so lucky all my fish at the time were labyrinth breathers cause they were in a 1/4" of water for i don't know how long, both ctenopoma were kinda dryed out on one side. My ropefish, however seemed no worse for wear and was just en

How bout this one? I bought a marble gar Saturday afternoon. he ate good and I noticed no aggression toward him from my cichlids. So I come home from work this afternoon (3days) to find my new fish swimming upside down but still breathing and he looked BAD. $50 bucks down the drain!!! That's the price you pay when you wanna keep cichlids. :-(

Its kinda funny reading all of these. I think we have all had these kinds of experiences at some point. I do have to say that I was cracking up at all the jumpering fish, the potatoe chip sunfish (sun chip lol), and the sudsy water from the tshirts.
My wimple/loach/shark is still alive but he seems to be a slow healer. His eyes are looking much better, fins are still stress-drooping & his coloration is still subpar. I think he will fully recover, maybe with some scarring.

I had just moved my 360 to my new house. In the process of setting up/cycling the tank I had replaced the return lines from the sump and forgot to drill 2 very important holes at the static water level...

Well about 1 week later my power went out as I was sleeping. For whatever reason I awoke around 4am and as I lay there in bed, dazed, I realized the power was out. At that exact moment I realized what a terrible mistake I had made :irked:
I ran to the basement where I found all but 3" of water out of the tank! Luckily I was able to immediately fill the tank back up without any causalities *phew*

When I was starting out I had a tank with no lid yet and came home from "one of those days" of work that make you seriously consider a career change, walked in and took a seat to zone out on the tank. Pretty much on que, one of my cl's shot out the top and started flipping around on the ground. I scooped him and tossed him back in, and he's still with me 3 yrs later :) I don't know which one of them it was but he pulled off about a 3ft vertical. Not bad for a little 1 1/2 inch fish. Glad your guys are making a comeback - N

One time when we had our 72 gallon we connected a long tube from the tank to the sink (TE tube went across the house) and one of the neon tetras got sucked inside and he went all the way across the house in the tube lol! Then my dad chased him an luckily caught him right before he went into thE drain

I think that is a better alternative than using T shirts. But even if he was Joking or being sarcastic, He still shared one of his experiences Which is what the thread is about.

Thank you, I don't play games, I come here to help and learn, some of us obviously have way to much time.

Pillow stuffing is commonly filter floss, which is great for mechanical polishing.

Op: good thread but I'm done with it, not fun when certain people ruin it and have absolutely nothing to contribute!
