In my set-ups, the problem (dead spot) was not really at the bottom level since the canisters intakes were moving the water there. My problem really was in middle water, in between inflow and outflow.

I will post my readings in a couple minutes.... My amonnia on top might not be 0 though from adding new fish

I can tell you that this has changed my prospective on how my 500 will be setup. I can only imagine how great my water mixture must have been when I had under ground jets. My idea for my 500 will be a crazy one, think of reverse flow UGF on a 500 barebottom with the only purpose being circulation.
