It would be hard to distinguish macaws with out seeing color well! And that price may be a package deal? I think harlequins are like $1700ish...Not sure though. Anyways he is still a very beautiful macaw.

And you are so lucky you have hyacinths for sale around you!(not for the biting part though) I have only seen one hy for sale ever and I fell in love with her but couldnt afford her. One day I will have one though.

The hyacinths aren't for sale, their residents of the pet shop, along with an African serval cat, 8' water monitor, fully grown Amazon ray (don't remember the species), and a marmoset. Everyone can't believe how old they are, 14 and 16 years old. No one believes me or the employees when we say their extremely young. I'll post pics of Goose and the bite mark later. He's very pretty, but incredible strong and deserves a ton of respect.

really beautiful.. love to see them up close too.. what happened to your gray..how old was he...sorry..... i would be devestated to lose mine.. he is like my kid..

My african grey was my parents they got it when my oldest brother was born in africa from a guy who had 12 babys in an egg carton lol. it was 20 years old when it died. we were all devastated because she was part of the family, loved to talk, and was our alarm clock. Everyday at 8:00 she would say Get Up non-stop until someone came to see her.
She died because of eating only sunflower seeds and not eating a proper variety. The sunflower seeds caused her liver to expand into an hourglass shape.
I feel this is my fault for not making sure she ate a variety instead of just sunflower seeds.

How sad.. i have been trying for years to get my adopted /bought umbrella cockatoo to eat other stuff besides sunflower seeds.. i did not realize this could happen although i did know that they need and should have a varied diet.. i give her many types of seeds but i see her pic them out all the time.. i wonder if i held back if it would make a difference..she does eat apples and other fruits.. i think african grays are the best there is..he knows everything..so i know just how you feel...

yeah that is sooo sad to hear bout your grey, and red devil i would definitely try to get your too eating pellets and veggies, sunflower seeds are mainly fat and have no real nutritional value, as a treat they are ok but they are really bad as a main diet as russl had to unfortunately find out first hand, you should slowly take out sunflower seeds (wean her off of them slowly) and add in a good pellet diet (still mix in little bit of seeds but more healthy ones instead of fattening sunflower seeds or peanuts) also try to get her eating veggies more than fruits (fruits are still good but veggies have ALOT more nutritional value and less sugar) what gets my little one to eat is if i have her sitting with me and start eating something then she gets curious and wants to try it out, if i am eating it with her then she eats just about anything but if i just put it in her cage then she rarely touches it, good luck!! weaning a bird off of seeds can be really hard but continue to offer pellets even if it looks like shes not touching them she will eventually try them out (maybe act like your eating them and when she shows interest hand one to her)

yeah if only i could go back in time, anyway here are the closeup pics i got of my eastern rosellas. Also here are some pics of my rabbit Snowy, he likes to make a mess. BTW my birds names are Ac and Dc.

one thing i did get her to try and she likes them is the nutri nuggets ... i added them to her diet last year.. and most of the nugget ends up in the bottom of her cage but i feel she is at least getting some of it.. i also add food additives and vitamins.. but yes i will continue trying..who ever had her the first 10 years of her life gave her all the wrong foods including caffiene.. she dranks tea and coffee.. so she has made big adjustments in her life with me.. it is a slow process..thank goodness all my other birds love everything...
