yes they live that long... if healthy and well taken care of... i could not believe how many years i had charley... went through so many things with him
 
i just got these 2 tiels from my cousin...he was never home...so last dec. he asked me if i wanted them i said sure i gave him $20 for the pair and the cage/food...now they are doing great...i also have 2 parakeets that i am trying to breed...the male wants to the female seems resistant...

I highly recommend macaws but only to someone with experience. And that is a good call you made to not get one now with young kids they would all be driving you crazy together and some hands may get nipped by a curious beak. And you have to post pics if you ever get one scarlets are one of my most favorite macaws. Someday I would love to have one as well.
And your teils are beautiful I have always loved all of the different morphs of them.

i have put many days of research into macaws and when i get it i will pot pics...thanx for the compliment on my teils...i know they are like little 2yr old kids so thats why i am waiting...i have always wanted a macaw ever since i was 8 yrs old and my friends macaw didn't like my friends mom and every time it saw me it said "hi scott" and every time it saw his mom it muffled f$%k'n bi^ch i laughed so hard every time it said that...
