I need to post pics of my Macaw, keep this thread alive! I'll snap some tonight and hopefully post them up. He's lost all of his grey pin feathers a few months ago, he's all grown up.

Love to see him...

wow Peta protested that?? gee they really don't have anything better to do ..do they?

Well thing is parrots have overpopulation issues and there's many sitting in rescues that need homes, while people are breeding more ( especially for large chain pet-stores). I talked with someone who ran a parrot sanctuary and it was an eye opener. In light of that, it's a good thing pet-shops carry less of them.

All of your parrots that I've seen so far look beautiful to me.
Love that outdoors aviary.
I had pictures of my birds..None digital. Had chickens once upon a time. Wild animals and neighbors dogs killed them.

as soon as you explained this i knew what you were saying ..yes there are too many being bred...and then not kept.. they end up going from family to family and then to shelter.. by then they are so unsocial and mixed up they need to be rehabilitated..they pull all their feathers out etc very sad.. i had chickens and roosters too... they are very intelligent birds..,many don't know that ..i liked them alot!

Still dont have my camera back yet, and the Macaw (Little Man) has gone to bed...

I will take pictures tommorow for sure though. He is a really greay bird, very funny too. Whenever I eat something, he comes running over begging for a piece just like the dogs do, and by running, he actually "hops" from his cage to the couch, then runs across the couch and onto the computer desk, and says "Hi!"

Well, My mom came home and had the camera, and Little Man came running out of his cage.

I snapped a few pics, wich arent the greatest because of the lighting, but I'll have them up by tommorow.

I almost adopted 5 cockatoos! Seen so many its not even funny.

Local shop near me had a Hybrid Macaw, ScarletXB&G most beautiful macaw I've ever seen, aside from my own :D

Apprently its owner, and older woman died and the bird was passed about the family. It really only likes who it decides to like. Took a long time for them to get him a home, but the home he has is great. From what the store owner told me (he raised my bird from an egg) the Hybrid Macaw, "Shaner" picked the people he lives with and will not let anyone else touch him, or be near his cage but them.

Also, I'm getting a free hair combing from Little Man, he's getting the back for me.

oh that is so cool..don't you love the way they carefully take one strand of hair at a time..like they do their feathers..he is awesome... thats a big beak too so maybe he is taking a lot of hair .. maybe you will molt soon..
Looking forward to his pics tommorrow..

I forgot to specify wich type of Macaw he is, He's a Yellow Collared Mini. About 15'' from head to tail. Not a small bird, but not a giant like his cousins(B&G, Scarlet, etc)

He's learnging to talk more everyday, He says "Hi" "Hello" "Hey" "Hmmm" "Huh?" makes kissy noises, whistles a little, and likes to make clicky noises. He feeds the dogs too! Drops little pieces of carrots and whatnot for them

Here's a few of one of my society finches......I know they're not rare or exotic but they're all I got right now.:D
