My first tank was a ten gallon with some goldfish. For my 12th birthday I got a used 55 gallon with the standard ug filter with air pump, came with 2 10" oscars, 2 8" jack dempseys, 2 12' plecos. once a week I would throw in 25 feeder goldfish and I also fed them Meow Mix cat food. Only refilled the water for evaporation. Poor fish had them all for 2 years that way untill I traded them for smaller types of fish.

We didnt knoe proper fish keeping we just chucked the fish in with tapwater.
And proper fish thats not fair
Since befor I was born My dad used to always keep big goldfish in a 20 gallon, and they would get about 8" long and live for 6 years or so... he had enough filtration on it for a 50g and once a week water changes. He kept good care of it.
MY first tank was a bowl of guppies, then a 5g with a couple angels, a pair of guppies, and I cant remember what else, I tihnk a pleco. Filtration, no heater, once a month water changes. they all died, then I took a break.... and a few years later got seriously into fishkeeping, ad still am

My first tank was a 55 with jack dempsey, green terror, midas, red devil, pleco, convict, butterkafri, 3 tiger oscars, 2 albino oscars, and a betta. with an undergravel filter and a pengium 350 for filtration.

I still have 2 tiger oscars, 1 Albino ,and the buttakafri. I soon realized something was wrong when my green terror died for no reason so i beagn with some research then relaized my error after most of the fish had died. So got rid of the red devil pleco and midas gave them to the LFS (not the one that sold me everything) Got some more tanks and now i have happy fish.
My first was a metal framed 5g with guppies a goldfish and newt on the kitchen counter about 1973.it had a hob bubble filter run by a little brass piston pump.I soon had 2 5g a 10g a 15g and a 29g setup in my bedroom still have the 15 and 29g tanks
