WOW. This thread has gotten crazy out of line. All anyone is saying is that the guy is an idiot and not given good reasons why this fish can't be kept in such a small tank aside from the obvious reason that he is too big or given suggestions as to where he can go for assistance as far as housing him in a larger aquarium.
The thing is that while it may just be a bit inhumane to house your average 3.5 ft fish in a 400 gal tank, it can be life-threatening for a shark. Sharks in the wild have to keep moving for their whole lives because they don't have swim bladders, so they can't hover, they just sink. Also, cartilagenous fishes like sharks also need to keep moving constantly because they don't have the pectoral fins like other fishes do to keep water moving past their gills. They have to move through the water to breathe!
Are there any zoos or aquariums that you can talk to about donating this? If, when you think about it, it is not realistic to have a much larger tank than this within a year or so, I would definitely be on the search for somewhere else to put the shark.
