You realize that algae isn't a good enough diet right? And in my opinion purchasing fish just to clean your tank and then sell them is pretty irresponsible.

I drop a slice of zucchini for them to suck on, and they also eat the pellets that my Oscars leave behind (usually they don't eat pellets after they hit the substrate).

Cleaning the tank wasn't the only reason I purchased them. I like variety and I don't want my Oscars to be alone in the tank, I was told that Oscars don't really bother plecos at all so they're good tank mates.

And you're entitled to your opinion but that doesn't mean I'm doing anything wrong. Right now they're only 2 inches long and seem to be doing very well. They will be housed in a 300 gal tank very soon and as they grow in size I will probably take some of them to a huge fish farm with artificial rivers and ponds here in south florida, the owner is my friend and has raised fish for +20 years.

Sadly, the great majority of Plecos are purchased for this reason, simply because they're marketed as aquarium cleaners.

I know what they are, and I know fish stores are irresponsible, but not everyone is a dedicated aquarist, most of these fish end up in a decor tank for a 12 year old and die before they even reach maturity. So let's not even go there.
