lol, would love new pics?

Sadly I rehomed him. Mine was so weird in behavior, finicky eater and just had issues. I am looking for a smaller, younger replacement to start with. That one came to me at about 6” and just had issues from the get go.

Hey DMD123 DMD123 .
That stinks that you got a dud for a Trimac. I always thought Trimacs acted like Midevils, you know with lots of personality and interaction. Then again every fish is different. Maybe you should get a few and grow them out and pick your favorite. It's a fish I've always thought of getting.

I acquired mine from a serious hobbyists from a mutual buddy but Inever found out where it came from or catch location. Just knew it was a real trimac, not flowerhorn. Came to me at 6” and was looking really good. But as it was with me it developed two fairly large growths on its tail right along the bones. I finally diagnosed these as lymphocystis which is viral and really nothing you can do about it. This was determined after rounds of anti parasite and other meds that ruled out bacterial or fungal. These spots lessoned over time but it was far from being a show fish.

It also developed what took a lot of research as black stripe syndrome. Again nothing you can treat for and may or may not go away on its own.

It started getting a sunken tummy, would not eat well and had stringy poo. At this point I pulled out my hard core routine. A medicated food mix pumped into the fishes tummy. It was an alternating mix of Kanaplex, metro, prazi, epsom salt. I have brought back fish from wasting away and duck lips in the past doing this. The trimac got the treatment and still has stringy poo afterwards and still had eating issues. My buddy said he would try his hand at it so I let him.

This fish ate up tons of time and energy and sadly was a dud. When I rehomed him two weeks ago he was 11".

lol, funny you should say that... I am looking at some F1 Rio Niltepec trimac at the moment. I am trying to prep both my 90’s to bring in a small group and being able to put in dividers and raise separately if need be. Goal is for a solo male.

DMD123 DMD123 the cichlid dojo just got some juvies in
I was looking to get mine from Max’s Cichlids, mainly because his Rio Niltepic catch location is just different from everyones else, lol. Though I like the look of the Rio Naranjo but seems commonly kept

Awesome DMD123 DMD123 ,
Where would you get your new Trimacs from if I may ask? I'm ready to cycle my tank but I am waiting on my darn Python gravel vacuum to get here from Amazon so I can fill my 90g tank and cycle it. No buckets for me please. It's a non Prime item unfortunately. I'm trying to decide if I want a "wet pet" like a Trimac or keep it a community tank. I only have one tank right now. I was typing and saw where they are from. Never heard of Max's cichlids.

Cich Mind Cich Mind , Max’s website has recently been updated with his new list. Previous to this I had to email him for prices and he got back with me super fast. He was out of the country for a bit but should be back now. I wish there was more info/pics on the Rio Niltepic trimac but they seem like they are good looking trimacs so this will likely be my choice.

Just pulled the trigger and sent payment for my 6 trimacs. Airport pick up slated for this Sunday. Pictures as it progresses... ( that was for you beau1990 beau1990 , lol)
