wow look at that crimson red tail. crazy colours. wats his diet?

Hi TLkmDN & BaTsBR,

Bought this guy 15 June '07 sized 2". Been feeding fresh red chicken liver and small pieces of fish meat from day 1 till now. I never feed this guy with live fish not even once. Last 3 mths only feed on alternate days sometimes chicken liver and following week with market fish. Now feeding every 2 days.

When small, have to cut the chicken liver into small pieces, the same goes with the fish meat. But now, big piece of chicken liver or the whole fish 6" minus the head and stomach content easily one gulp.

After cutting the chicken liver into small pieces, wash again the excess blood otherwise it will make your water cloudy faster. Choose fresh RED liver when buying, dark brown indicates it's not fresh. Maximum 7 days you can keep it in the freezer. IMPORTANT : Removed all fats sticking on the liver before feeding your catfish.

All my other catfish never ever resist chicken liver, perhaps TLkmDN can give a try on your TSN but first, starved your TSN for few days.

Have tried, actually testing feeding small pieces of chicken meat, beef heart, beef meat, squid and small shrimp....WoW!!!! this guy eats everything..no fussy, easy to take care off, the problem is $$$$ expensive!!! Better to feed my family rather than feeding this beast with expensive foods.

Chicken liver now cost RM 4.50 ( USD 1.40 ) per kg and will last a week if feeding once DAILY for my 23" RTC. He eats all kind of fish but for the fish,
I'll buy the cheapest type of fish available at the market.

Maybe the chicken liver and fishes that have more blood like tuna, sardines, walking catfish that makes the red tail colour brighter.

Adios.

Nice.
I fed my two RTC with chicken meat and fish fillet too. Actually, one of them start eating some earthworms, the other don't seen to like it.
they got about 8" and are just 2 months or less with me. Everybody in home like them.
The TSNs are making me worry, they don't seen to eat, BUT they're not getting thinner. They're are relly slow growers.
TKS for the infos man, hope mine gets this color on the tail.
