Potential Tankmates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well it could just be that my tank is on the smaller side being a 75 gallon that I don’t see the aggressiveness that you have seen. Mine tend to be rather shy.

I’ve always kept silver dollars in my tank both in my 60 and now my 125 they do great with my sen. little bugger is a weirdo tho...he’s a surface dweller, always sitting on top of plants like a bird and swims along the surface half the time and into the filter outflow.

I dont mean aggressive behavior. Agressive feeding like eat everything quickly

It is possible to target feed. Not sure if op is willing to do this. If so a length of pvc pipe would do the trick. For me feeding like this just becomes a chore. Sd's are some of the most aggressive feeders ive ever kept and for the most part they need larger aquariums. Nothing wrong with mixing the two species but for my tastes not worth the hassle
I agree about the feeding habits of the SD's. They will grab what's falling to the bottom and proceed to scavenge the bottom.
So depending on how may SD's are in the tank you need to drop a lot of food in for bottom fish to eat well. Though I think it's possible to feed both, but I'm not a poly keeper.

Having SD's always lent itself to having really obese SD's when having slower feeders in the tank. I've tried target feeding, but it still meant a lot of food for the SD's so that they wouldn't go near the PVC pipe. More food, more water changes.
