Hi all :)
I added pothos to my tanks a couple months ago. I rinsed them and plopped them straight into the tank, and they took off immediately. Now I want to trim the roots down a bit. How much can I trim without hurting or slowing down the plant? Thanks guys!

Why do you want to trim the roots. Usually if a plant has healthy roots it's best to leave them alone.

Considering it's only been a couple months, I think the roots will take over the entire tank in time. I knew I was going to have lots of roots, but man they're growing a lot. I definitely hear what you're saying about leaving healthy roots alone, I have a bad feeling about trimming them down. Guess I should put more thought into concealing them.

Oh ok. I have my pothos in my overflow so I don't see them lol. If they're in your tank I can see why you want to trim

The only light that they're getting is filtered natural light through those blinds

Both of my tanks are next to windows, I only added the auxiliary light bc I didn't like seeing all the leaves turned sideways. They seem to like it. My roots are near the filter output. I thought it might be a problem, but after reading Duanes post, I guess it's good, bc nothing collects on them.
