Lol I got change mine tarpon fresh water 6 ft big monster I caught him on a 7 ft heavy duty bass rod and reel it was I crazy fight sawgrass all over and in the middle of nowhere

I only just started fishing avidly not too long ago. So my hardest fighting fish would have to be a smallmouth bass. I caught a 2 pounder on the delaware river. That thing fought like you would not believe. Also not really pound for pound but any type of catfish over 5 pounds can put up a heck of a fight.

A big 75pound ray on a old bass rod. Took 45min to get it to budge. You better be ready to fight if a big one decides to anchor down and hope your tackle can hold out. After a few big ones in 1 day you learn that passing the rod is not always a bad thing haha

Wow, I can't believe no one has said bowfin yet. For freshwater I'd say bowfin or long nose gar. Saltwater I'd say rays.
