Over here.
I got home from work yersterday to find out ther had been a power outage in my neighborhood for a few hrs. The power was on by the time I got home at 6:30 and my fish looked fine. I have a large female in a 360 and a pair of large Leos in a 500. I was going to feed them at 10:00pm and I noticed my Leo in the 360 was in a corner breathing and gasping extremely hard. I figured something went wrong with the water so I moved her to my 500g with the other two rays which were doing just fine. I poured some stress coat and salt in there and watched her all night. She seemed a little more active today but was still breathing hard. I did a 25% water change and l left for work. Wish me luck guys. Any advice would be appreciated.:(

best of luck! Have some kind of backup such as one of those air pumps that will keep going if the power is out or maybe a vortech pump with a backup battery pack. Little things will save you a lot of grief.

Keep us updated. Another thing to do would have been to possibly add some additional powerheads or airstones to the tank for more airation.

Hope things go ok!

freddy with your investmant a UPS is needed... run air pump off of it on some large hydro sponges... its better than having nothing and loosing everything...make sure you dont loose your cycle on the 360.. some good airflow and maybe skip feeding them till tommorrw would be a good idea ...

I don't know what kind of filter you are using, but even if the rays don't suffer that much from a power outage, the bacteria in your filter do. Then when everything starts running again it all looks fine, but this is not nesceserely the case. With your filter not up to it's normal capacity the tank will not run as well as it did. This can cause problems.

I was thinking the same thing. I also have a 5 week old pup in a seperate tank but plummed to the 360. She is doing just fine blowing sand looking for food. I would think she would be affected too.

i always have my neighbor call me, even if the power only goes out for a minute, just in case a pump fails to kick back on.

i also have a web-cam that i can pull up from any computer. i can pan/tilt/zoom and see all my tanks.

submerged media is also very helpful, instead of a wet/dry
