Praying mantis kills humming bird *pics!*

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That reminds me of this little male that we found on out front porch. We brought him inside to get a better look at him. He had the coolest eyes, all black!!!! But my dad picked him up and he saw his reflection in my dad's glasses and started batting his front legs at them. It was really funny watching him trying to get at "the other male".

Mantids generally prefer to walk, makes them less of a target to predators. They only fly when they feel they're in danger.

wow--i had no idea...

That pic is just more proof that these things are bada$$.

is that even possible????? unless it was a baby bird

Definitely possible...a full grown humming bird is as big as your thumb.

When ever I visit my parents in the summer time they are everywhere...as well as Praying Mantis. The mantis hang out near the flowers and nab all of the critters going to feed...I guess it's only expected that they would get a small bird from time to time.

yummy

I took a crappy vid of the mantis eating a cricket. youtube has a lot that are much better.

mantix vs. black widow, mantis vs. mouse, mantis vs. goldfish, etc....
