Praying mantis

I really enjoy this thread. Your new flower mantids are really inspiring me to get back into mantids.

I am particularly fond of two of the white flower mantids, The spiny flower mantid and the orchid mantis.

WOW I have never considered keeping any kind of Mantid, but this thread is making me want to find out more. Anyone suggest some good reading or a place to start?
 
The best mantid book is 'praying mantis, keeping aliens' or something like that. I love the orchids too, unfortunately they are pretty hard to get, only eat flying insects , and are not a beginners species. This trio that I have are flower mantids, also known as the #9 mantis for the design they get on their wings as adults

I have them by the shovel, outside.....
 
I'm more a fan of the green, slender ones. When I hear mantis, I think of those. They are all cool though.
