Pre update - dbs dungeon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wow, thats awesome! please do keep us updated on this thread.

Agreed! Always love readīng your topics. New falks look great, have always wonderd why they aren't more popular. Maybe you could use some peat in your water preparation? I used to use it when breeding amazonian dwarf cichlids. I believe it not only softens the water nut also adds "elements" to the water that seem to be appreciated by fish from flooded forest type water.

Thanks Lou!!!

I think Falks lack popularity cause of the price. One exporter cornered the market and price is set. People would rather spend a little more on blackies I think. Shame cause the Falks have incredible personality..... Have always thought yellow rays to have the best personality ever since having a Jag that would spit water out of the pond and onto the floor if she heard someone in the basement but didn't get fed.

I tried peat. May work for some but water is crazy hard here (have seen 9.1 on PH meter) I saw no change using it aside from it looking like someone pooped in my tank.

Going to try storing water above the tank. 1 tub for aged tap, 2 tubs for pure RO. 60 gallon tubs. 3 tier stand - sump/reactor down low, display tank, then tubs on top.

sorry i hadnt noticed this thread sooner. i will look forward to reading it fully and in more detail ( i just skpped to the end as i dont have long atm)
good luck db i hope things are going well if not already sorted.

Who's ready for some pics?

It's been a week. I had to move some fish around and am currently trying a combo I've been wanting to for years, just never had the guts, well, it's working.

:)

Lets see this combo!
DId you combine all the atf, armatus and odoe?

Nope.

Not sure what will be on tap for the Armatus in the future. My larger Aimara is taking crazy damage right now and I think it's the trio of Armatus vs him. IF this is the case the Armatus will likely be moved out and replaced with a trio of Tatf. Armatus will either go in the tank that's going up in this thread or the black ray tank which will be going up after this one's up.

Odoe and Armatus didn't jive. Armatus are already big enough they look at the Odoe like steak. Odoe may go into the big tank with the ATF though if the Armatus are moved. I actually have 1 ATF living peacefully with 7 Odoe - been together almost 3 months now. Zero issues.

OK - back to the combo I was referring to. You guys guess it and I'll get some pics/video. Rays and something else.

My only hint was I tried it before and lost what I mixed with the rays, BUT there was debate as to whether or not that fish was really a freshwater fish. This time around the fish with the rays are confirmed fresh water. :)

I never tried this combo cause I wasn't sure what would happen during feeding time, but so far so good.....

DB- did you ever look into collecting rainwater? I think oddball does that to get softwater

I've been on the water meter for close to 1K gallons a day before (flushing tanks/meds). Not sure what I'm currently dripping but wouldn't be surprised if it's around 500/day. Just not really in a good area for this to be feasible. No where to store it in winter, would need to heat it.

I know rainwater is a great idea. Webber had Tiggers breed in it. We discussed this option in depth and I'm just not focused enough/have too many fish for this to be an option.

Maybe I'll have to revisit this idea though as I have a feeling making lots of RO is going to get troublesome.....
