Ok,how about a megalodoras cat, grows slowly after 9" looks a better version of a niger cat imo and will max out at 2ft and will take ages to get that big and are very peaceful, ive got pics in the catfish section of my 2 a while ago but il try and get a pic on for you.

gotta go with pim. blochii (4-line). they are great looking active cats who do well with larger cichlids.
here's mine at 8 yrs

Could go with a striped raphael catfish. I have one.. he's always all over the tank.

Lima Shovelnose, 4 Line Pictus, Megalodoras, Sun Cat, and last and least predatory
Upside Down Cat (Synodontis nigriventris) or Hoplo Catfish (Hoplosternum thoracatum).

Those last two are a bit smaller and less predatory, but a nice big group of full size specimens can make quite an impression. Especially the Upside Down Cats as they have the ability to go from invisible to everywhere moreso than any other fish I've ever seen.

what did you mean by predatory- the kind that's always out on the prowl or the kind that will try to eat everything including their tankmates aggressive-wise?

Quite few catfish can be okay that fits the bill for either reason or another.

I would go with african catfish species such as synos as they can hold on their own against a cichlid that's mad at them. There are more diverse species of catfish coming in from africa that I would suggest to give a try.

I have a Pim and a Raphael that don't bother any body. The Raphael is rarely seen but the Pim is all over the tank and is a real preditor, keeping the pellet population in check.
