I'd do A solo Male cuban, or a Solo Male Trimac.

Dimentions? some 3 Ft tanks can house larger fish and some can house smaller ones. i have a 36x18x24, It can house a fish a lot bigger than if you were stocking a 36x12x15.

Great point. A Cuban, and a Trimac are way too big for even a 40 breeder. I would say Grammodes.

A Pike dwarf to medium size. Very predatory. I seen some just lay and wait then attack in a split second. If you want and odd ball you could get a chaca chaca catfish. Also a very interesting predator.

I'd go with a Grammodes.. I believe they top out around 7-8".

dimentions, if it is a super wide tank you could have large fish, there are some 24 inch and some 36 inch wide 3 footers. Tallness helps a little(some fish like to go up and down too).

If it is a 36x12x15 I would do a rainbow cichlid pair or a single one. a convict pair would be cool. Blood parrots don't get too big(If you don't want it too get too big get one that looks lower quality). these are all seprte choices.
