Predatory cichlid for a 3 foot tank?

Although its not a cichlid, I say a golden wonder killifish. They're long narrow and hang around the top of the water kind of like a bootleg arowana.

Get some mean keyhole cichlids

Dwarf pike cichlids would be the way to go if you wanted to keep them in their for life.

They are actually pretty cool little fish. I would do a pair of these guys with some dithers, buenos Aires tetras, and have a 10-20 gallon tub or tank on the side full of breeding guppies to feed to these guys. Awesome little preds.

I'd go with a Grammodes.. I believe they top out around 7-8".

They actually top out at 12", they just take forever to get there, lol. I think that most people get too tired of waiting for them to reach their full size and sell them before they ever hit their full potential, thus you don't see very many 10"+ grammodes.
