Preds for a 30 gallon?

Ctenopoma eat anything, pellets, flakes, freeze-dried food, frozen, etc. Not particularly delicate fish, and can be had for just a few bucks at most chain stores too

I have 1 ctenopoma in a 55 gallon, trying to grow him to be a monster. They get to about 5-6 inches. When they are adults they shouldn't be kept with other adult ctenopomas. I feed mine mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, krill and flake. Their mouthes expand to a large size when eating so they can suck up the food in a flash. It's really cool to see. Mine is growing quickly. He's about three inches now. (got him at 2 inches.) Mine reconizes me already and has a rally playful personality. He's really greedy and stares at me until he gets food.

thats exactly what its called. thats what i thought it was. they are just a semi agressive fish and can be kept with almost any other fish that it couldnt eat i would imagine. tiger barbs are schooling fish that are pretty neat because of their behavior. african butterfly is a good choice. Exodons have to be kept in a species only and never have been appealing to me. you are not going to get any big predators in your tank and your choices are pretty limited as far as that. smaller catfish like raphaels and corys are good choices and all catfish are scavangers. you could also do a small african community.

PS- I would keep them with Congo tetra's and african butterfly fish. They are a great combination.

that is a good choice, also they're all African fish...another option in a bigger tank would be ropefish...another option is cichlids like buffaloheads

Exactly what I was thinking... but im not a fan of buffalo heads, but I guess its up to nanoreefer.

i love butterfly fish , i almost got one today they are such odd balls, true predators.

How about a small species of puffer? I'm not sure, but I think some species of puffer live in brackish water and there are some that can live in freshwater. If you do get a puffer, it will be kind of hard to stock it with any other fish because a puffer can be pretty mean. Good luck, The Doctor.

i'd grab a couple of leopard puffers. theyre little and low matinence and cute but don't let that fool you, theyre vicious towards other fish, they used to attack my aro which is like 3 times theyre size and feeders, forget about it they bite them in half. they are tiny monsters
