Pregnant guppy??

no dont keep them in an unfiltered tank, try and get another filter failing that get an airpump and a sponge filter<cheap as chips>
the mum will wilst laying her live young try to eat them and usually suceed leaving only a few survivers!!! my female dropped about 30 or so yesterday and what with the other guppys angels they made light work of the fry leaving only two left, saw her eat a few!!my breeder traps are full and my fry tank is housing a cichlid temp so have to leave them to it
 
so what your saying is all i have to do is replace the filter and im fine?
theres maybe 7 guppies (2 small) (3 or so babies i think got caught in the filter) and a crawfish and breeding snails in my 10, so will the fry be fine in there or will they get eaten :confused:

im stressing cuz i wanna figure out how to do this right and not lose any fry so my puffer can eat well for a while :grinno:
 
sorry mate i thought you ment you were gonna set up another tank which wasnt filtered,,,what type of filter are you running on this tank?
does it suck in fry?
are you planning to feed the puffer the fry?
snails are great food for puffers
 
I power feed my puffer everyday a mix between crawfish, snails, guppies, and bloodworms. when the fry get to a stomach filling size then its for my puffer:headbang2.. ive got a wisper 10i in my 10 gal i think it sucked in guppies or the bigger guppies ate them idk i cant tell

and i was just thinking should i take out all of the guppies and put them in my 40g and leave the very preggers one in my 10?
 
try getting a breeding trap from lfs and use that to save the fry!!!
if this time you dont save them dont worry,they breed about every 4-5weeks and your others also look preggers!!!! not sure of the filter but doesnt sound like its the filter id say 75% its the others eating them!!

hah she just gave birth - fifteen babies so far probably more to come. and the other one looks like shes about to pop too :grinno:
 
hey forgot to say, where are the babies now? in with the other fish or in a breeding thingy?
 
i put the mom in a fish net right when i saw her vagy area swelling then i squeezed her belly lightly because i friend said i should try that and like 5 came out then i put her in a tupaware thing to birth once i know shes done ill put her back in the tank and keep the babies in the container for a while till there big enough to not get sucked upby my filter
 
do u think i should squeeze mine? she's been holding for days and days now. but i might hurt her though, i get panicky when i handle fish. maybe i should let her just do her thing. but when i wake up tomorrow i will let u guys know if she is still holding.
 
if you see selling by her anal fin that means shes about to birth
you could lightly squeez her tummy then. i dont know about now
