Do NOT squeeze a fish. Let the mother do all the work. Fish have delicate organs. Imagine squeezing a human mother giving birth and what she would say!

A couple of reasons why it might be taking so long are temp, water condition and food. If these aren't acceptable livebearers can "reabsorb" the babies for nutrition. They will never give birth, but rather always look semi-pregnant.

i caught a few guppys among other things in my local creek for my all local 10 gal breeding tank and i noticed two of the guppies stomachs are way bigger than the other ones but i cant tell if their fat or pregnant :screwy:
please let me know what you think

This is two pictures of 1 guppy. the either more pregnant or fatter one :D

Those are not guppies. They are gambusia affinis, the common mosquito fish and they are quite aggressive for a livebearer. I would not recommend keeping them unless you need a source of feeders.

hah its just something that impatient people do and its not like these fish are worth anything anyways hah

and that is true my water is always at 85F and that might be why mine birthed so quickly

hmmm reabsorb the fry?!!! lol yeah something like would happen to me, wouldn't it?!!! oh well i'm still waiting for her to release them, so will let you guys know when she does.

instead of netting pregnant fish i just provide lots of hiding places like ocean rock and lots of fake plants and just let them give birth in the tank :) JW.
