Pregnant pearl not eating!

Our pearl female is now approximately 110 days pregnant, maybe even more. It is her first pregnancy.

Since about 5 weeks she has been eating very bad and for the last 2 weeks she has not eaten at all. About a month ago a 3-4 inch L number disapeared from the tank (she may have eaten it).

She is now very very skinny (even a sunken head). But coloring is still ok, she stiil moves (not powerfull) and there is still lots of movement from the pups.

Last night I took out all the males from the tank, I keep of the lights and have raised the temp.

Anybody have an idea what is going on? What else can I do? Please help, all tips are welcome!

Thanx Bobby, she means a lot to us. I don't even care about the pups anymore...

I had a 14" male Leo eat a 3" L47 once and he was ok, so there insides can deal with eating a plec, Ive heard that before giving birth female's will stop eating. Let's hope that she has the pup's soon and you can get some food into her and build up her strength.

i would not have thought the plec would cause a problem. How big is the female?

my friend breed's pearl's and when his female's are pregnant they eat like pig's non stop.

everythng ok with the water? could she have been getting bullied by the other rays?

i hope shes ok my female p14 went off her food a bit when she was preg both she and the pups were fine

im not sure if it was as long as yours thow

She is approximately 40 cm (16"). Water is perfect and the other rays are in perfect health.

The male has a lot of testosteron in him and gives her a love bite now and then, but no wounds or anything.

She breathes very heavy for weeks now and every minute or so her breathing makes a "hick up", just like when rays eat to much.

Where your rays not eating for weeks or days, richard? And where they brathing heavily also?

During the last few weeks of my motoro's pregnancy, she didn't eat as much as she normally did. But not eating at all doesn't sound good. Hope all goes well for her, and you.

Sunken in head is a big problem, I would try and increase water circulation in the tank and add some salt.
