the reason i switched from beef heart every day to bloodworms was because of the digestion thing, i didn't think it'd be that big of a deal but my bichirs started getting these weird lumps on their stomach like they weren't digesting their food properly so i switched to bloodworms and ghost shrimp and boom, no more lumps
I got a pound prepared and all done up for three bucks yesterday. I would not know what to do with an eight pound heart. It looked real creepy since it was not frozen solid.

It wasn't too bad. 8 pounds is definitely a ****-load of heart. I have 3 'sections' of it frozen whole and 2 ziplocbags full of pre-cut chunks ready to serve. I tried breaking a bit off the other day just to see how easy it would be when it came time to feed it again, and its really easy.
Its pretty apparent once you get into the cutting what needs to go and what needs to stay, after that its just taking he time to cut it up & freeze it. But for 8 bucks, I'll put in the little bit of effort to have a foodsource for my carnivores for the next year+ (although next time I'll definitely find a butcher that'll do it all for me )
