Place a divider for now. The female is either not ready to breed or maybe the male just doesn't seem to be compatible with her.

they bred once already..female is alone now

If they bred before then that means that she's not ready to breed again whereas the male wants to breed again.

Ya sorry to hear that dude. My convicts did the same thing. They were awesome to. The male was starting to get a hump and the female was beautiful then one day right after a spawn to, I got home and the female was beaten and dead.

Maybe remove the male and rearrange the tank decor.
