Problem with a datnoid.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Also there is minimal aggression in the tank and no one messes with the datnoid:D.
If something is chasing something else the aggressor is gone.

It is not pointless to test your water. It also helps to monitor ammonia, nitrite and nitrate with liquid test kit to ensure the water quality is consistently good. Retest the water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, KH and GH with a liquid test kit. At the moment, I'd put crushed corals in your filter. Your pH is acidic instead of alkaline. It does not mean "hard" which is what the KH and GH tests are here for.

Thank you so much and I will get some water the the LFS right away. But with me stating that the other datnoids that all died having it right after I bought them it would apper thats where it came correct?
They came from LAX and I am positive they were shipped right out right away?

The only ones affected are the datnoids. I have all my other fish in the tank as well. No problems.
I'd look into the hardness levels if it was specifically the datnoids. Now if ammonia, nitrite and nitrate were involved, the rest would have gone downhill as well but I'd still test those three just to be really sure.

But if it's pop eye(is this the correct name) is this how to treat it?

Lupin if you know for sure it is pop eye how do you treat pop eye?

Only way is to leave it to correct itself while you aid it with daily water changes. If dropsy becomes evident with protrusion of scales and distended abdomen, then use epsom salts to correct this problem. There are cases where when the eyes become so protruded from the sockets that they fall out of the sockets. The fish becomes partially or completely blind.

Can I treat with Epsom while treatng with this?
I'd give it a few days before trying the epsom salts. I'd prefer clean water over treatments for eye problems.
