I have a bluegill and green sunfish in a 10 gallon tank and the bluegill keeps shredding the sunfish's fins. I also have a 5inch bullhead cat in a 45galloon with 5 carp a couple goldfish and some misquitofish and he keeps eating my misquito fish. I was thinking of upgrading the bluegill and sunny to a long shallow 20 gallon and putting the cat in there to and maybe they wouldn't fight as much. Then i would move the goldies to the 10gallon and leave the carp in the big tank. Do you guys think this is a good idea?

You definitely need bigger tanks. And catfish will eat things that fit in its mouth, its kind of a thing they do.

You'd need around 2000 gallons to properly house all of your current fish if by 'carp' you mean koi or common lake carp of any type. The green sunfish will need at least 30 gallons alone, and the bluegill about 75. No goldfish can survive more than a few years in less than sixty gallons, and that's the round-bodied inbred sort. Feeder types need hundreds of gallons to pace in. Try craigslist for big, affordable tanks. How are the nitrates in that carp tank, anyway?

pretty good, the carp are about 2inch. commons and mirrors. I might get a 100 gallon in the next few months.

yes ... your tanks are way to small for the fish you keep ... your trying to fit 15 people into a 1 bedroom apt .. its not going to work .. no matter how you try ... try different fish or WAY WAY WAY bigger tanks

here are the tanks, as you can see they are not extremely crowded and a couple of the goldfish are going to move into the bluegill tank and the gill and sunny are going to upgrade to a tank twice the size as they are in now.
