Pay no attention to the "spots" on him, those are just microbubbles because I had just done a WC on him. While doing the WC I noticed this. He's all the sudden got a red lump right by his gill. I have no idea what it could be??

Out of all my years of keeping Polys I have never seen anything like that. Hopefully someone responds with what it could be.

I know man it is really weird. I just broke down the tank he was in and moved him over to the other 120g now, that's when I noticed it so he's had it for a couple days now most likely. He looked fine a few days ago. The tank he was in had no decor so it's not that he hurt himself on decor. Only thing in that tank was pool filter sand and a 3" PVC tube. He's got me worried that's for sure.

Is he gulping air without any swimming issues?

He doesn't seem to have swimming issues that I can tell. I've been tryin to think if he has been acting differently at all and the more I think about it he might not have been as active as normal the past couple days. Does seem to be breathing a tad harder too.

S Steve_C that looks like a combination of stress and shock stemming from environmental and water adaptation issues imo. If you can, please place it in a QT tank/box, and ensure that the water in the QT tank/box is salted and aerated.

Could be a growth of some kind. Shouldn’t mess with it if it’s coming from the gills. If it’s acting normal and eating then watch for now.

Agree with tlindsey tlindsey ive never seen that. Hao Hao you ever see something like this ?

Knowing you water quality is not an issue. Have you added any new fish ?

Id be concerned too. Im not saying this is what it is but im pretty sure some parasitic bugs can attach to the gills
Can you get a better pic ? Could he have gotten spook and tried to back out of the pipe catching his gill on the edge ?

If you dont mind im gonna post a pic on a poly fb page and see what they think.
