Problem with new convict pair.

the eggs hatched today in my 15 gallon i got like over 100 lil fry swimming around the driftwood. u can have some of mine if u want lol..

that's one theory, however i have not done a single water change since i got my 10 convicts and i just had my first successful spawn. i didn't want to do a w/c because i didn't wanna disturb the couples, i knew they where preparing to lay their first eggs so i just made sure the water was clean and they were fed

ill do a water change soon though.

the water is very pristine
 
How often should they breed?
Could you just get like 3 couples?
How do you know the males and femals apart?

they breed very often, im not sure how often

u could get one couple, more is better
the females have metallic orange on their stomach and fins
 
Thanks Im setting up a 30 gallon tank, to breed (for fun and to watch, and for feeders if it works) I would like convicts being they breed and mollys maybe, would there be another fish super easy to try and breed.

I orginally wanted to do mountion minnows but the fry would be microscopic for too long.
 
ive added 3 more convicts so all in all they're 5 in the tank. after a week a pair finally started to form. BUT.... they killed the 3 other convicts.... why is this happening? Is this why they call them CONVICTS?
