Yes Corin, but remember Tom Barr and the Behemoth tank, the ADA aquasoil was too messy for a large tank, so he switched to Eco-complete. I also heard that Eco-complete had TOO much potassium in one batch which contaminated the water, they do contain it. ADA aquasoil also has Ammonia and Nitrite spikes when starting up a tank and is more messy.

I'm not saying that Eco-complete is a better substrate, infact I would probably go for ADA next time, I'm just pointing out its disadvantages. PLus you can get more variety from Aquasoil, With Eco-complete there is only black and if your aquascape doesn't suit black then it's no good.

Mike

I like the black substrate.

I used this in my 2.5 gallon nanotope, and my 20 gal planted tank. I instantly loved this product. There is no rinsing, and it doesn't cloud the water. It is easy to plant in. I bought the black color, it looks great. Plants have been flourishing for a couple of weeks now. I highly recommend this product to plant enthusiasts.

i thought the only color it came in was black?? yea it works great!! i bought 2 bags and its amazing!!

I am pretty sure that it does only come in black.

ouch! That link is to some very expensive Eco-Complete. I have a good relationship with a LFS and bought it for $14.00 a bag. That was 2 years ago, has the price increased that much???

14.00 is about dealer cost now.

I don't care for eco, they have to many issues with bad batches.

First off the stuff will cloud your water, well at least 240lbs will.
It says to rinse it right on the bag.

The batches I got was of a very fine powder with hardly any grain size.
So that stuff sucked right up in my filter, even after churning it.

Its very high in phosphorus and algae started growing out of control.

It compacts and hold in anaerobic gas in a 3" layer.

It sticks to your plants and fish.

just so you know you should still dose ferts with substrates like eco and aquasoil. especially if you have high light and Co2
