If i got rid of my dining room table i could have a HUGE indoor pond...hmmmm....

LOL, i want a tank not a pond, and no we're not having pond inside the house:swear:if its on the backyard, i will think about it:lipsseale

Ignore all the negative critiques you will most likely receive. While you are taking care of your aquarium, don't forget to enjoy it!
Bump the heat up to 81, 82.
As for feedings, try not to force upon foods You will want your aro to eat. It'll cause more stress on it and you both. Variety is key, so try to aim for quality foods. Such as hikari brand, new life spectrum. Your aro will pig out on foods when it gets bigger, no need to rush it.
As for filtration: I'd go with a canister - fx5. but install it when you have a bigger tank.
So, if you get a 200G or larger may be a canister and a sump. As for filter media, visit the setup and filtration catagory. Slowly, you will start picking up on things that need to fit your aquarium's needs.
As for the ac110, I'd install a sponge prefilter. That's just what I would do.

How about the lid on your current tank?

whats the reason u want on hotter temp?
we feeding the aro with live and frozen for now, i wanted to feed with pellets but no luck, will try again when he grew up about 1 foot like someone mentioned here.
what is sponge prefilter, the lid of the tank is made out pieces of glass

Hmmm...i think we should go directly with the 450 gal. and still keep the grow out tank...just put it in our room. We are running out of space for anything else. Now i wonder about acrylic vs. glass.

A bit lower temps aren't good for longterm health? or only after reaching a bit more maturity?

a pond for the dining table would be cool, while eating you can look down to your fish !(and the fishes will be scare to dead)

Was looking on ebay and there are some bad ass designs for fish tank desks with computer setups and everything. Was neat looking, but damn, those poor fish...and what happens when you wheel your chair in there with a bit too much force? There was also one that is a dome set on pedestal...looks almost like a crystal ball. That i could live with.

if you look at the weather in amazon, where their natural habitat is. At this time of year, the temperature usually lowest but its still really high: low is about 70-75F, high is more than 90F !

I added 3" black ghost knife to the tank yesterday, it is cool fish then early this morning when I woke up proceed to make the morning brew coffee looks at the tank, and turned off its light couple second later my aro attempted his first suicide right in front of my eyes, good thing I was there watching the whole thing..when I get home from work going to check him out further if he broke something on his body LOL
He jumped out thru the little opening I had open :(
