I'll use this thread to update the progression of my young Aimara, I have to re-scape my tank a bit for more floor spaces.
This is original scape used to be my Jaguar Cichlid pair and then become my Lac+Mala community tank.

Here is a new scape:

I took out lot of plants, driftwood and create a new 15G planted tank.
I made driftwood center piece and the Aimara staying under there, its still shy to come out in daytime though so I couldn't get a good picture of it. So far, this Aimara is a killer...10 days in my tank its killed (or ate) 4x 6in mala, and early this morning I heard some water flashing noises came out from my tank but I didn't come out to check what's going on and continue my beauty sleep...woke up few hours later and the Aimara already done its job very well...its killed my 7in Lacerdae (the baby Lac I got from Wes few months ago >.<).
TO BE CONTINUE....

too bad for the expensive feeders. Like the new look of the tank. Good solo tank for your killer!

Nice set up and aimara bro!

Hope he will not destroy all your remaining plants as time pass by..

You'll be having a hard time for sure, arranging it again.. Hehehe..

Does your tank have openings on top? Wolf fish, especially Mala is notorious jumper. Did you see the aimara killed your Mala or Lacardae or you just assumed he did when your other fish went missing? I have had a 18"-20" aimara with a 10"-12" Mala for years without any incident.

My Lacerdae lived with those malas for sometimes already and they are similar size except the smallest one about 3.5 inches that my Lac went and ate it in after few minutes introduced into the tank. They were most of the time stay in open spaces so I'm easy do head count everyday :p thing changed when I introduced the Aimara, malas went into hiding mode (see the original tank setup) and I hardly see them out but they still out here and there for food, the Lac stay out in open space but opposite with the Aimara. I decided to do/re-arrange my tank this weekend and I found out there no more malas left in my tank...what's happened to the Lac you already see in my first post :p
In the end I would say my mala/lac community went pretty well until I introduced the Aimara but only because it's impoosible to find a 5~6 inches Aimara for sale, I'll setup another Lac community sometime later this year or might be next year :p
*About cover* I usually don't use any cover/lid on any tanks, but since I thin out my nature pothos top cover I DIY a temporary cover frame until my pothos take off and again :) thanks for the warning though.

I did seeing that coming so I re-arranged most plants into the side walls, If my Aimara destroy the center piece then it probably will have no shading area to rest lol. I knew the risk but I hate looking at a bare tank so I will keep trying until I got fed up hehehe :p

This Aimara is crazy and a bit went overboard, its after my Octocinlus  I saw it gulfed down 2 of my algae cleaner and chasing other Octo around. I read a post Harley K said about a colony of endlers with a wolf...I guess that option is out of my list for now!

Hahahaha, these octocinlus already in my tank for long long time. They are survived with a breeding pair Jaguar, a pack of Juv. goliath, vittatus, also survived with a juv. pack of wolfs (lac/mala) I hope this aimara not going to wipe them all out though. Oh, there is a surprise and make me laugh...there are 2x Yoyo Loach alive in my tank, I didn't even see them for months (I thought my juv. pack wolf wiped them out) and even when I re-arrange my driftwoods they still stay hidden. Today, I saw them out looking for food but very caution and high alert movement when they approach the Aimara area (trust me you can see and feel them notice there is a killer living among them) after that they just went into hidden under some drifwoods cave/hole.
