If you have atleast a 1k gallons maybe you'll feel safe.. But if not even near that, you need a lot of luck..

Specially if you feed live feeds, not chunks of meat..
1k gallons is quite an exaggeration! How about 300 gallons?

Mine is only 400g.. I saw someone i think from malaysia 600g, then from indonesia 1k+g.. Both solo in their tanks..

I think it still depends on what kind of aimara you have, offcourse some are soft and some are hard.. LOL!

I feel blessed & thankfull still, even though mine is crazy.. That is why we chose aimara, we wanted a beast and a beast we must get..

Do you have a recent pic? Coz your pic said its 2011, with that small body i think its only about 9 to 10" and 14 to 15" back then.. Most probably by now, your aimara is about 30" and all his tankmates are pretty much dead and the other aimara too.. LOL!

I'm kinda picky about tank mate because I'm not fan of polypterous species or top swimmer like arowana species, I'm not into fast swimmer like ATF species either that's why I sold them all recently, Florida gar or tropical gar is best choice for me but it illegal here so those also off the list. :p

Don't mean to hijack your thread but thought you might find this interesting........

Here's a few pics of my Amapa variant. Has always been in with other fish. Currently residing with 3 different species of Hoplias one larger 2 smaller then the Aimara, a pair of Dorado, a Brycon, several rays, Clown Knife, Armatus even had a Vittatus in there.

Thought maybe I got lucky and got a nice one so I acquired a VZ variant and had the same result - residing just fine in a community setting.

See it's possible, I think you just need larger fish that can hold their own, and enough to so its spread out.

Well, this picture was taken in March 2015, not quite recent, but yup, the other aimara are pretty much dead... :D

That picture makes me worried about your tank. Doesn't look like the acrylic is thick enough for the power of that group.

That pic is nothing short of awe inspiring. It was my inspiration for a group of wolves. I could only hope to have a group of Aimara someday.

You're right. The acrylic on top of that tank is only 1/2", and the lids are flimsy thin. Everytime I feed them, they hit and lift the lids. I recently moved them to another tank with heavy 3/4" glass lids
It's funny! I was drooling over your collection from those pics you posted a few posts above, and enjoy the vid of the Lar group you posted in your other thread, and you're inspired by my group of wolves lol
