My guys are doing well, But I need to split them up again soon s having 20 Meeki in that tank is to much now.

Sorry...Chistmas was crazy with my kids. I am in the process of changing my stock around so I will get picks of him when he gets into his new tank.

Yeah Firemouths can be very aggressive and dominant. I've got a 5.5" male Firemouth Ellioti hybrid that owns a breeding pair of salvini! Hes a real beast, and this male FM pictured above is a nasty piece of work aswell.

I have 3 meeki at the moment. how do I know that which one is male and which one is female? any particular sign?
and one of them has this red pattern from mouth to belly. how can I make the pattern more red?

It's mostly genetics, but there are ways to max out the potential: varied diet, low stress, lots of clean water. How they look when they're little isn't always an indication of what they'll look like full grown. This was mine in 09:

Well heres a long overdue update on my Firemouth breeding programme... Sold on a lot of my fry from that spawning but hung onto one or two... This male is in a tank at the moment with a very feisty male Jewel, hence the fin damage... but you can see some great colors on this 3" boy

Path (1) was bought from a LFS and mated with a random unrelated female... Path (2) is the offspring of (1) and spawned with another random LFS Female. Path (3) has spawned with a F1 Laguna La Perdida female
