edit: and actually Younglin, i wouldn't be surprised if there is/will soon be a virus for the ps3, same with the xbox and wii tho. there are virus for the DS, aswell as iOS (ipad/pod/phone)

You can't run any unapproved software. Therefore it is impossible to get a virus. Duh.

well all know iOS has been jailbroken 100's of times

there a few other systems, afaik there is no system yet to be hacked.

Lately theres be a big craze in hacking embedded systems tho, alot less about systems and the servers they use.

The stock OS on a PS3 will not allow you to run any unapproved software. of course it can be hacked, anything can be hacked. But so long as you only use approved software and games, you will never get a virus. I have three PS3's and have hacked them all using linux so i can play games for free. I even wrote a hack so I didn't have to update my system OS to play new games. I know how the OS works, how to hack it, how to destroy it and how to write a virus for it if I wanted. BUT I would never be able to run the virus on a system that hasn't already been hacked.

Just because you don't know of an OS level exploit viable threw TCP doesn't mean there is one.

An very easy way would be to compromise a DNS server, point the update to one of your servers, and say your the one hosting the next patch, and remotely crack the targetted system.

Sony has not been known to have the best permissions on there system, im sure if you dig deep enough you'll be able to figure it out yourself.

LOL Good luck with that. The PS3 OS will only accept upgrades from certain servers. Try impersonating one.
