If Apple were to make an attempt it could possibly work. People buy into that brand like crazy. Unless of course Nintendo and Apple combine forces in which case the market will essentially crumble

Destiny is confirmed for Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4. Logically I would assume it is also confirmed for the next Xbox as well.
 
The reason why the DS is the most popular handheld is the exclusives.. Imagine the $ they make with pokemon and Super Mario alone ;)

Imagine a world that you get all DLC free if you buy the game new at 60-65$, if you get it secondhand, all DLC that is out and future DLC will need to be payed for. Oh, cause that would make sense, and the companies can't laugh while they make us pay 120$ for a game that lasts a year.
