Public Outrage halts states execution of Snake head ...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've been searching the NY DEC site for at least a half hour, and I cannot find the proper email address to contact these people.
I would hope that if enough of us contacted the NY DEC politely, and remained adamant that this species could NEVER survive in NY, and has absolutely ZERO risk to the environment.
The idea that you can't differentiate between snakehead species is a huge copout.

If you can't tell the difference between snakeheads, how can we trust you to tell the difference between all the trout, salmon, pike, and sunfish species they are supposedly managing!

That is to say, if you can't tell the difference between a northern snakehead and a giant snakehead, there is no way you can tell the difference between a northern pike and a chain pickerel.

There. Did it.

Dear Director Lynch,
If it's 'too difficult' to tell the difference between separate species of Snakehead, how can we trust you and your department to tell the difference between species of trout, salmon, pike, or sunfish? The difference between a Northern Snakehead, which presents an environmental threat, and a Giant Snakehead, which presents no threat, is at least as large as the difference between a Northern Pike and a Chain Pickerel.
How can the public trust the DEC if your information is not based in science, is not up to date, and you are not willing to differentiate between separate species?

Maybe Adventure Aquarium in New Jersey can take him, they're not as far as Ohio so that would be less traveling stress.

I know it would be stressful, but I think the Newport Aquarium in Newport,KY right over the bridge from Cinci would take Rocky if it came to it. I can make some phone calls if you like.
