There is one petco in my town that carries exotic fish. They even carry fahaka puffers. They don't know the first thing about these guys including that even though they start out at about 2.5 in they grow to be upwards of 18in. I bought my fahaka from them simply because he was skin and bones, his eyes were clouded, and they had him stored with aggressive fish. The picture included is the day I brought him home. They haven't restocked any fahakas since I bought him, but their saltwater puffers need help too. Unless they are going to fully train their staff on how to treat and care for these guys they shouldn't have them.

Great rescue man!
Thanks :) I had wanted one and had been researching them for months before I stumbled upon Hapi here. I felt so bad for him. I normally don't buy sick fish, but he deserved a shot, and they were selling him for $19.99. I go back to the store regularly and check to see what they have. One of the associates was telling a family how sensitive puffers are, one of them puffs every time she feeds him. They really don't know what they are doing and have most of them paired with the wrong tank mates. They had mainly been dropping flakes and pellets in the tank for my puffer to eat. When I asked for him the associate on duty didn't even know he was in the tank. They had a second fahaka with Hapi, but they sold him fast and poor Hapi was just forgotten.

WOW! Thats so awesome of you! Look at how terrible he looked before and you brought him and nursed him back to health. This is what I find so beautiful about this act of grace. Without your kindness and compassion, he would have been lost.
If everyone took just 1 minute a week to advocate for the welfare of just one non-human species, there'd be a lot less of us goin to hell.
