pulcher bred in captivity

^ I don't think that ray breeder has been successful though.
He'd be famous in Thailand right now if he had done it. All wildlife departments are getting very sensitive about species of animals that are synonymous to Thailand becoming extinct. If anyone can save a Thai species from the chop they would receive instant recognition and accolade.

I believe it. Never really voiced my opinion on this topic before, but I think Pulchers can be bred in captivity and probably have been (like classic-chassis stated) in limited success.

When people talk about breeding Pulchers, whether it be captive or not, it is met with such disbelief. It is almost as if people feel that these fish are incapable of sexual reproduction. They are no more special than any other fish and would not be here otherwise. Breeding can and will occur in captivity, its only a matter of time.

If there is a huge market for it (and there is), you better know that there is someone out there trying to capture that market.

obviously you have no clue what you are talking about.....the term "extinct in the wild " means anything to you ?
since you seem so confident, why don't you give it a try ? you can start by explaining to us how you tell sexes apart.

Sorry. Just voicing my opinion.

if i were successful in breeding ST, why would i tell anyone , why not just raise the fries and sell them for mucho dinero.
the "extinct in the wild" + "no longer reproducing" + "will soon extinct all toghether" factor is actually quite good to keep the price high

Don't know about you but if i bred STs I would tell the whole world i bred them and give them evidence of the baby littler, but not teach them how to do it. Therefore I can be recognized as the one who bred them AND still be able to sell them

The price would stay high regardless because of regulation of breeding, like i wrote earlier the business would be the same as the Arowana business.

He said with artificial insemination.
The scientists at the research facility at Bungborapetch have said they can bred Pulcher with LIMITED success, and it's still at an experimental level.
Yes, they can be captive bred with hormone treatment and artificial insemination, but success is limited.
I've written it before, but i recon we will see farm bred pulcher in the near future, but i also expect the trade in them to be heavily regulated by the breeders. Same as Asian Arowana.
I wonder what became of the offspring of the inseminated ST's.Is there a chance that the offspring are sterile and can't reproduce?

imo, i don't think it's worth the trouble of having to protect your secret. when no one knows you have a secret, no one will be trying to steal it.

They told me that any breeding was still at a scientific level and was using all methods available to get them to reproduce. To me that means artificial insemination, hormone treatment, maybe even taking eggs form females and trying to inseminate them in a test tube. They told me sucsess had been limited, which to me means can do but in very very low numbers, and probably more chance. The odd one out of 1000s IMHO. Chances are they're deformed, sterile who knows what!!
