ALright everybody, first off thanks for the help of those who will offer me suggestions! I have a 360 gallon ray tank 6x4x2 and have been struggling with finding a pump for my sump! I am using a 55 gallon and have the media chamber built to 40"x12"x19" hopefully this will be big enough!!! My stock will be 5-6 rays LARGE, a few catfish a silver arow some p bass and some eels! I know over stocked but the foot print supports it! My main question is what should my turnover rate be? How many GPH? and what pump should I use external or internal? I have a chamber built for a submersible pump and the chamber is 8x12x5 so please help me!:headbang2

Reeflo by sequence all the way. They have different models that can push a lot of water. Dolphins are good too.

With that stock you want at least 8x/hour. Is the sump drilled to accept an external pump or do you need to use submersables? Externals I hear that Reeflo is the pump of choice. For submersibles, I just switched from the regular Mag drives to the Supreme Hy-drive. Look at the Hy-drive 3200 that will work just make sure your overflows can handle the turnover rate

Yeah your going to have to up your turn over with that stocking! I agree with the above X8. Also look into a drip system, its worth it for a large tank that's heavily stocked!

Please post some pics of that set up! :)

i plan on posting a entire build thread! I am almost done just need the pumps have 900 scrubbies lava rock and some bio balls plus mec. media just need a pump im thinking about 3600 gph how does that sound?

I agree. Go with about 3600 gph before head loss and you should be fine.

I like Reeflo for external pumps as well. Is your 55G drilled? If not, there's a good chance that it is made from tempered glass, which you cannot drill. You will probably need a submersible pump.
